The Origin Story of Calypso Kitchen

Hello! I’m Sarah Chan, the founder of Calypso Kitchen. Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I’ve been deeply influenced by the rich culinary traditions of the Caribbean. At Calypso Kitchen, we are passionate about sharing these vibrant flavors with our clients. Our sauces, spices, and beverages are crafted from cherished family recipes, many inspired by my maternal grandmother, and have been passed down through generations. We take pride in collaborating with local farmers and artisans to source fresh ingredients, ensuring authentic Caribbean tastes in every product.

While our roots are in Caribbean cuisine, our culinary expertise extends far beyond. We are dedicated to creating customized menus that cater to your specific preferences, whether you’re craving the smoky essence of Texan BBQ, the intricate spices of Middle Eastern dishes, or the delicate balance of flavors found in Asian cuisine. Our goal is to bring your vision to life, crafting dishes that resonate with your tastes and event themes.

  • Restaurant Supplies: We offer disposable compostable restaurant supplies, supporting sustainable practices in the food industry.

  • Commissary Kitchen Rentals: We provide an incubator and accelerator space for other small food businesses through the rental of our commissary kitchen space in Bellingham, WA.

Beyond our culinary endeavors, we are deeply committed to supporting our community. Through our affiliated non-profit, PNW Plateful, we provide over 800 hundred scratch-made meals weekly to individuals and families facing food insecurity in Whatcom County. Our partners include the Bellingham Food Bank, YWCA, Birchwood Food Dessert Fighters, Kendall Food Bank, Lummi Food Bank and the Nooksack Food Bank.
